WHAT IS AUTISM?

Autism Spectrum Disorder is a complex neurodevelopment disability. It is characterised by difficulties with social skills, repetitive behaviours, speech and nonverbal communication. Autism can be detected from an early stage in a child’s life. Since autism is a spectrum disorder, each person with autism has a wide range of strengths and challenges.

Inspire’s continuous mission is to keep providing help for these people. In order to do so, we need your help. Together, we can raise more autism awareness. During the month of April (World Autism Awareness Month), we encourage you to wear the autism ribbon. If pins are not your thing, you can still help us reach our goal by donating here.

YOU CAN HELP TOO

Therapeutic Horseback Riding (THR) can be beneficial to many people on the autism spectrum.

Through their interaction and connection with the horses, THR helps persons with autism improve their psychological well-being. THR helps them achieve a general sense of purpose and increased emotional control and self-discipline. Activities carried out whilst on or around the horses can help autistic people address sensory issues, communication skills, as well as enhance cognitive skills such as activity tolerance and attention span.

In order to keep on helping these people who need our THR services, we need to upgrade the area. The THR boundary wall needs to be re-build and re-plastered to comply with Health and Safety regulations. Moreover, the THR area also needs new floor carpets for the horse wash-up area along with rabbit cages for grooming.
