Community engagement has been at the heart of APS Bank since its founding in 1910. Established by Gozitan Jesuit Fr Michael Vella, the Bank united professionals and merchants with a shared vision – to uplift the working class at a time when a formal welfare state was still out of reach.
More than a century later, APS Bank has grown into one of Malta’s leading financial institutions, employing over 700 people and offering a comprehensive range of banking products and services.
Giving back to the community remains an integral part of APS Bank’s identity. The Bank actively supports a wide range of community initiatives and projects, guided by an approach that prioritises partnerships which are fair, sustainable, and mutually beneficial.

The Bank’s commitment is reflected in its support for charitable, voluntary, and community-based projects that align with its core purpose. APS Bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts focus on three main pillars: Arts, Lifelong Learning and Sustainability.
Through events, sponsorships, and collaborative initiatives, the Bank strives to create meaningful and lasting value for society.
This commitment is exemplified through APS Bank’s long-standing support for Inspire, whose mission to empower individuals with disabilities to thrive in an inclusive society aligns closely with the Bank’s focus on lifelong learning, sustainability, and inclusion. One such initiative is the LinC Programme, which provides a specialised educational and therapeutic environment for children with autism or behavioural challenges who are unable to attend mainstream schools. With APS Bank’s support, the introduction of interactive whiteboards has enhanced learning within the programme, encouraging engagement, communication, and skill development through multi-sensory and inclusive teaching methods.

In addition to this project, APS Bank also supports the Multisensory Room during the National Book Festival, coordinated with Inspire Malta. This ongoing collaboration reflects the Bank’s belief in the importance of supporting inclusive initiatives that foster accessibility and equal opportunities for all.
