This project focused on enhancing the physical, educational, and emotional development of children with autism through the implementation of the STEP IEI Programme. The initiative aimed to create a supportive and inclusive environment where children could improve their mobility, coordination, confidence, and overall wellbeing through structured therapeutic and educational activities. These rooms will be used by over 150 children aged between 3 and 7 who attend the STEP Programmes at Inspire.

.   .

The programme combined elements of occupational therapy, movement-based learning, and recreational play to encourage active participation and skill development. A key feature of the project was the purchase and use of specialised equipment designed to support children with varying physical and developmental needs. These resources help to improve posture, balance, motor coordination, and sensory engagement while also making learning and therapeutic sessions more interactive and enjoyable.

The project also emphasised the importance of inclusive education and equal opportunities for children with disabilities. By providing access to tailored activities and adaptive equipment, the programme enabled participants to develop independence, social interaction skills, and self-confidence. Practitioners and therapists were involved throughout the process to ensure that children received consistent support both during sessions and within their daily routines.

.

In addition to benefiting the children directly, the initiative contributed to raising awareness about the importance of accessible educational and therapeutic programmes within communities. The project demonstrated how structured physical activity and specialised support can positively impact the quality of life and long-term development of children with disabilities.

Overall, the project successfully highlighted the value of integrating occupational therapy, education, and play-based approaches to promote holistic child development. It created a meaningful and engaging learning experience while supporting the physical, emotional, and social wellbeing of the children involved.

Project Timeline:

Inspire joined the project in March 2025 and it will end in May 2026.
