A Recipe for Togetherness

Transforming Lives Together

There’s more to this recipe than ingredients. There’s the joy of making something with care, the memories we share around a table and the people who make those moments special.

This Christmas, chefs Roberta and Ramona Preca have shared a festive recipe as a small thank-you for being part of Inspire’s community. We hope it brings warmth to your home and gives you something delicious to share.

Together, we make a difference

At Inspire, the generosity of our donors, the skills of our employees and the time given by our volunteers come together to support persons with disabilities and their families.

Every contribution helps us continue this work. Thank you for the kindness and support you bring to our community.

If you can, please make a Christmas donation and help us continue transforming lives together.

Plus time for the chocolate coating to set.

A rich chocolate Christmas log with crunchy biscuits,
toasted almonds, hazelnuts and walnuts. Make it ahead,
slice it thinly and share it with the people you love.

Ingredients

  • 300g plain biscuits, such as Morning Coffee
  • 1 tin sweetened condensed milk, approximately 397g
  • 200g toasted almonds
  • 100g hazelnuts
  • 100g walnuts, roughly chopped
  • 30g cocoa powder
  • 100g dark chocolate, melted and slightly cooled
  • 2 tbsp brandy or rum, optional
  • Finely grated zest of 1 orange, optional
  • 200g dark chocolate, for coating

Method

  1. Step 1
Crush the biscuits, leaving some small pieces for texture.
  2. Step 2
Mix with the nuts and cocoa.
  3. Step 3
Add the condensed milk, 100g melted chocolate, optional
alcohol and orange zest. Mix thoroughly into a firm,
    sticky mixture.
  4. Step 4
Divide into two portions. Shape into logs on baking paper,
    wrap tightly and refrigerate overnight.
  5. Step 5
Unwrap and coat with the remaining melted chocolate.
As it starts to set, drag a fork along the surface to
    create a bark effect.
  6. Step 6
Refrigerate until firm, then cut into thin slices.
