The Kinder Swimathon took place last week, where schools, companies and the public took turns at swimming a few laps in one of three pools in Malta in order to raise money for Inspire – The Foundation for Inclusion. Swimmers could choose to swim in Inspire’s indoor pool in Marsascala, the MFA indoor pool or the KMS national pool at tal-Qroqq.
Inspire, which is the amalgamation of Eden Foundation and Razzett tal-Hbiberija, has become a leading NGO in the disability sector providing specialist care to over 1,300 babies, youths and adults through various educational, therapeutic and leisure services and programmes.
This year Inspire once again encouraged schools, companies and organisations to participate in this fun activity and spend a much needed hour, or more, unwinding those stiff muscles in the pool, whilst at the same time making a difference.
Inspire still relies on people’s donations in order for it to offer its services for free or heavily subsidised. Without such a system, many of its clients would not be able to afford such beneficial treatments.
Participants of this year’s Swimmathon donated money and fundraised through sponsorsheets to help Inspire and its clients.
