International Day of Persons with Disabilities to be commemorated in Malta

AFun Run 13[2]fternoon Tea Fundraiser to be held at Auberge De Castille on the 3rd December 2015

During a visit at St. Theresa’s College in Mrieħel, last week Mrs. Michelle Muscat, Chairperson of the Marigold Foundation – BOV in the Community, launched an awareness and fundraising activity in aid of Inspire, which will take place on The International Day of Persons with Disabilities. This day is a global observance held annually on December 3rd, to focus on issues that affect people with disabilities worldwide.

Mrs. Muscat announced the launch of an Afternoon Tea Fundraiser to be held at Auberge De Castille, to commemorate the day in Malta. This is the third consecutive year that this event will be held at Auberge De Castille, and every year the event has raised thousands of Euros for The Inspire Foundation.

Inspire offers services to more than 1000 clients – children and adults with disabilities who receive training and support to become as independent as possible. Inspire also advocates for, and promotes inclusion of people with disabilities in mainstream society.

Mrs. Muscat stated that she is always keen to support the good work carried out by the Inspire team, and that the Government is committed to improve the quality of life of people with disabilities.

“We are encouraging companies and individuals to celebrate world disability day with us at Auberge de Castille. By joining us on this special day that is celebrated all over the world to raise awareness about the true potential of people with disabilities, you will be helping Inspire reach out to more children and adults who need our support. You will also be contributing to a more inclusive society that is respectful of everyone’s individuality,” explained Ms. Giovanna Mirabile – Inspire’s Fundraising Manager.

Inspire requires €3 million a year to run its programmes and services to so many clients, most of which are free or heavily subsidized. We depend on voluntary giving, volunteering and social enterprise to continue to provide support to those in need, in order to make a difference in the lives of the people we help.
