Inspire Malta thanks the Malta Resuscitation Council for donating two Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs), reinforcing its commitment to community safety on World Restart a Heart Day.

Inspire Malta extends its sincere appreciation to the Malta Resuscitation Council for donating two AEDs in honor of World Restart a Heart Day, celebrated internationally on October 16th. This global initiative emphasizes the critical importance of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and the immediate use of AEDs in saving lives.

Justin Grech, People and Culture Manager at Inspire confirms the necessity of creating safe environments for both service users and employees.

‘’ The newly installed AEDs are strategically placed just outside our Bulebel and Marsaskala venues, making them readily available for public use in case of an emergency. This initiative not only enhances our safety practices but also extends our commitment to the surrounding community. In collaboration with the Malta Resuscitation Council, Inspire has already conducted training sessions on CPR and AED usage its staff members, with further training sessions planned.

Dr Tanya Esposito, Chairperson of the Malta Resuscitation Council, adds ‘’ We advocate for increased awareness and immediate action when someone collapses and stops breathing. Prompt recognition of cardiac arrest, calling emergency services at 112, initiating high-quality chest compressions, and using an AED can potentially increase survival rates by up to 60%.’’

Additionally, these newly installed AEDs now also feature on the AED Malta mobile application, allowing individuals to locate the nearest AED through a location-based service across Malta and Gozo.

Inspire Malta is a leading non-governmental organisation dedicated in providing services and facilities to persons with a disability and their families. On World Restart a Heart Day, the message is to encourage everyone to ‘get trained and save lives’. Learning CPR can empower individuals to act swiftly in emergencies, potentially making them lifesavers in critical situations.
