Physical Activity Educator (Part-Time/Reduced)

We do this by providing individuals and their families with educational, therapeutic and leisure services. We also advocate for inclusion, educate the public and raise awareness among peers.

General Scope and Purpose of Position

We are looking to recruit a Physical Activity Educator on a part-time or reduced basis to work within our School Outreach Programme (SOP). Applicants must be available for work between 09:00 – 13:00.

The SOP supports a number of children with disabilities, who are integrated in mainstream schooling, to develop their social, emotional, academic and all-round life skills. This is done using a number of unique facilities and approaches to achieve client-centred goals.

The selected candidate shall be expected to plan, develop and carry out sessions of physical activity which are suitable for the children who attend SOP.  Various facilities will be made available, and the Physical Activity Educator would be expected to develop the necessary skills in order to make use of facilities such as multi-purpose gym, therapeutic horseback riding facilities, hydrotherapy pool and others.

Qualification Requirements

The ideal candidate should:

  • Possess a minimum MQF Level 6 qualification in physical education, psychology, disability, occupational therapy, physiotherapy or a related area.

OR

  • MQF Level 4-6 qualification in Education, with a special interest in Physical Education

Additional qualifications related to sport, exercise or related skills will be considered an advantage.

Prior to being recruited and throughout the duration of employment, the selected candidates need to satisfy the requirements of the Protection of Minors Act (POMA) together with those of immunisation.
