The Physiotherapy service helps persons with disability to maximize their potential and maintain their physical strength, function, motion and overall well-being by addressing the underlying physical issues.
Service includes the provision of guidance, diagnostic assessment, intervention, support and information for both clients and carers.
Following an initial assessment an individualised programme of intervention is developed for each service-user.
Parents others are involved in the care-process and they are helped in gaining the necessary skills to be able to support their child.
WHAT WILL I LEARN?
Support physical development by increasing and maintaining muscle strength and endurance.
Engage in exercises and activities that decrease pain, muscle spasm and high tone.
Decrease swelling and inflammation of joints, and restore and increase joint range of motion.
Help the service user improve mobility through walking or use of adapted mobility aids where required.
Increase ability in daily activities such as self-care and play.
Promote better overall health by educating service-users, parents and carers.
